A fresh communication from Mahindra claims that the first lot of 25,000 units of the Mahindra XUV700 was lapped up by the customers in under 1 hour. The bookings will reopen tomorrow morning on October 8, 2021, at 10am.

The XUV700 5-seat petrol range witnessed a price increase of Rs. 40,000 to 50,000 and the biggest price increase in percentage terms of 3.01 to 4.17%. The XUV700 5-seat variants with the petrol engine now cost between Rs. 12.49 lakh and Rs. 17.09 lakh.

The Mahindra XUV700 7-seat diesel has the widest selection of variants to choose from. There are 9 options with the diesel engine including 5 with automatic transmission. 2 of the diesel-automatic models are also available with 4WD.

The XUV700 7-seat diesel variants got a price increase of Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000. The top spec AX7 Luxury with 4WD and automatic transmission got the smallest price increase of Rs. 10,000 or 0.44%. Meanwhile, the XUV700’s base AX3 diesel manual variant with 7-seats suffered the biggest blow of Rs. 50,000 or 3.29%. After the increase, the prices of the Mahindra XUV700 7-seat variants with the diesel engine start at Rs. 15.69 lakh and top out at Rs. 22.99 lakh.

Mahindra XUV700 Waiting Period

Mahindra are already struggling with the Thar’s deliveries as it has almost 45,000 customers still waiting for their Thar, which went on sale a year ago. Only about 30,000 customers have take delivery of the Thar so far. At the current pace of production, we can expect Mahindra to take about 18 months just to fill the open orders for the Thar.

 

The heavy demand for the XUV700 is likely to create a bigger backlog for Mahindra. It’ll become interesting to see how much the XUV700 customers will have to wait to get delivery of their car. As the production ramps up, we can expect Mahindra to start rolling out around 5,000 units of the XUV700 every month to meet the high demand. You can also count on the carmaker to revise the prices a couple more times in the next 6 months to keep the demand in check and maximise profits.
